Saxophonist, performance artist, playwright, Marizelda S. Eggertsson began studying the saxophone at age twelve in Texas. After high school, Mrs. Eggertsson moved to Italy and pursued her interest in classical music by enrolling in the Milan School of Music (Scuola Musicale di Milano) under the direction of maestro Stelio Licudi. Later she studied at the Brescia Academy of Music (Accademia Musicale di Brescia) and performing in duo with saxophone and piano.

Inevitably Mrs. Eggertsson was drawn to the French School of classical saxophone and studied among the third generation of followers of the great soloist and saxophone teacher Marcel Mule, in the city of Paris where Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone, had introduced his instrument. Mrs. Eggertsson entered the International Conservatory School of Music in Paris (Conservatoire International de Musique de Paris) and was awarded the First Medal Prize in Classical Saxophone by Unanimous Vote (lere Medaille de Saxophone). Serving as an Assistant Professor, Mrs. Eggertsson continued at the Conservatory School of Music in Paris giving individual instruction in saxophone. She frequently participated as a jurist for examinations and competitions in conservatories and music schools. In 2004 Mrs. Eggertsson represented the United States of America as a member of the Board of Examiners during the Adolphe Sax International Saxophone Competition (Concours International Adolphe Sax) in Paris France.

Mrs. Eggertsson has also completed a special training where she specialized in Mime, Theater and Dance from the school of European Academy of Physical Theatre & Contemporary Mime in Paris, taught by the master Ella Jaroszewicz.

Composer Armando Ghidoni composed and dedicated Nocturne et Sicilienne for saxophone and piano (or harp) for Mrs. Marizelda S. Eggertsson. Nocturne et Sicilienne was published by the prestigious music editor Alphonse Leduc of Paris (FR) and Alphonse Leduc-Robert King Inc. (USA) a division of Leduc Paris. This piece has been selected by the French Musical Confederation to be imposed for music program examinations and competitions throughout France.

Upon returning to the United States, Mrs. Marizelda Eggertsson commissioned two new original works for alto saxophone and organ, “Journey of a Leprechaun to Scotland” and “Ode to St. Germain”, compositions by Jeff Ostrowski. Mrs. Eggertsson continues with her repertoire of sacred, classical, operatic arias, and original music for saxophone with the latest development of her upcoming theatrical production “In the Beginning…” production work staged at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC.  The musical underscoring from In the Beginning was performed live in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on August 29, 2013 at the Teatro Municipal de Niteroi.  In the Beginning was performed live by the municipal symphonic orchestra of Rio as an Orchestra Suite medley taken from In the Beginning by Marizelda S. Eggertsson.
